I have written fiction and nonfiction since I was a child. Mostly this has been a private affair, my way of learning. All of my published work has, in one way or another, asked the question of my most recent book: How do we create what matters not just for each of us, but for all those around us and in a way that contributes to the sustaining of the human experiment? We are obviously still figuring this out. I find it helpful to write about it.
I wrote my most recent nonfiction book Creating Things That Matter: The Art & Science of Innovations that Last at the end of the Laboratoire experience on returning back to the USA. This book won a Nautilus Book Award in 2018 in the category of creativity.
I wrote my second nonfiction book The Lab: Creativity as Culture in French (Odile Jacob) and English (Harvard Press) in the midst of the Laboratoire experience.
I wrote my second graphic novel WHIFF (Harvard Press) with the Japanese manga artist Junko Murata the second year of Le Laboratoire.
My first graphic novel Niche in French (École de Beaux Arts de Paris) and English (Harvard Press) with the novelist Jay Cantor and the artist Daniel Faust the year appeared the year I opened in Paris Le Laboratoire.
I wrote my first nonfiction book Artscience: Creativity in the Post-Google Generation after joining the faculty at Harvard University.
